Heartland Mental Health Partners with Denver Public Health & Environment for the “What You Say Matters” Campaign

Heartland Mental Health is proud to be partnering with Denver Public Health and Environment for the “What You Say Matters” campaign, which addresses the stigma and barriers people face when talking about mental health. Talking about mental health is becoming more common— but the way we talk about mental health matters just as much.

If you have a friend, family member, loved one, coworker, or even distant acquaintance who is in need of support, it is important that you find the right words to say during these key moments. When faced with conversations about mental health, it can be easy for people to mistakenly place blame, offer rushed suggestions, or be dismissive as a way to alleviate discomfort. However, it is far more helpful to practice active listening, empathy, and person-first language during these conversations.

At Heartland Mental Health, we have always been focused on fostering a supportive and empowering mental health community. We are dedicated to creating and supporting a place where people are accepted, experience a sense of belonging, share mutual concern for each other's well-being, and advocate for each other.

Our Vision: We envision a community of wellness where members will flourish and live their best, self-directed lives.

This community reaches beyond our own mental health clinic and drop-in center. With this commitment in mind, Heartland Mental Health is proud to support Denver Public Health and Environment as a partner in this learning program.
