Crisis Intervention Team Training with Denver Sheriffs

The Denver Sheriffs Department recently joined Heartland members and staff at our Drop-in Center to take part in Crisis Intervention Team training (CIT). The session was led by our Speakers Bureau team as part of a 40 hour training for law enforcement officers that, according to the CO Sheriff's website, has provided “significant benefits in their communities through dramatic declines in injury rates among both citizens and police officers, decreased utilization of the SWAT team to resolve crisis situations and the diversion of people with mental illness from incarceration to community-based mental health services.”
